After years of planning, building work started on the five acre site back in 2012 and Dunbar Garden Centre opened to customers on 3rd July 2013. The ‘award winning’ garden centre has five main departments. Our Restaurant, a unique glass building (made mainly from Dutch glass), that serves delicious home-prepared meals, cakes and snacks. The homeware department houses a range of cards, candles, clothing, cookware and a host of gifts and furniture to suit any home or kitchen. Our Farm Shop sells the best of local produce from East Lothian and the surrounding areas. You’ll find a large range tropical and fresh water fish in our Aquatics department, with a smaller pet area.

Our large outdoor Plant area sells a wide variety of plants such bedding, perennials and shrubs. We continually re-stock to suit the changing seasons and provide you with the freshest quality plants. Our garden sundries range from seeds, bulbs, and propagation equipment to garden tools, pots, decorative stoneware and fencing products. And our helpful staff are always on hand to assist with any customer queries.

At our new garden centre we are very proud of the environmental designs that have been incorporated into this new build. There is a water storage tank which is used to irrigate the outdoor plants. We also have a silo to the rear of the garden centre which houses 15 tons of wood pellets, these supply the biomass boiler which will be used to heat the garden centre during the winter months through the under floor heating system. In March 2015 we had 45KW of solar panels attached to the garden centre roof, on sunny days these contribute to the electricity supply that is used by the garden centre and restaurant. Also just at the entrance to the garden centre there is a newly installed electric car charging point.

Well behaved dogs are welcome at the garden centre and must be kept on a lead at all time, but are not allowed in the farm shop or inside restaurant areas.

We also sell gift vouchers which can be used at both Berwick and Dunbar Garden Centres, please ask one of the staff to purchase these.

Tools Shed

We are proud to announce that we are a collection site for the Tools Shed charity. Customers donate their old gardening tools at a collection point here at the garden centre, we then pass the tools onto HMP Edinburgh, where the tools are revamped and given to local schools and community groups. If you would like to become involved with this project please contact us for more information.
